Cost of Deceipt
Hello, my name is David Deceitful. In this post, I will explain to you how much time and money we are prepared to spend as Elders to ensure we keep our position and to destroy the lives of those we take a dislike to.
Let’s take the situation with Brother truthful and Sister Honesty as an example see this page if you have not already read the story.
Jehovah’s Witnesses have a policy that every matter may be established with the testimony of 2 witnesses as shown in.
Deuteronomy 19:15 (ESV) “A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established.
Even when they get to their highest level of court hearing their so called “judicial committee” it only requires 3 Elders to be appointed. This is the case regardless of the sin that is being judged. (to see more on this topic got to this page) If found guilty the punishment would mean passing a sentence of ex-communication (disfellowshipping) which in their eyes means certain death at Armageddon so in effect a capital punishment. It’s so empowering for us to know that we have the power of life and death over somebody. Anyway I digress you are here to see how much we spend on these matters.
So with the case of Brother Truthful & Sister Honesty, this is what it cost.
8 Elders spent the following unnecessary time in visiting the new congregation they had moved to.
- 1 hour getting showered and dressed for the trip.
- 15 mins collecting the other brothers in the 2 cars used.
- 5 hours travelling the round trip of 240 miles to the congregation.
- 15 mins using the rest room and introducing themselves to the other congregation elders.
Total combined time for the 8 men would be 36 hours.
Then meeting with the other brothers a total of 16 men around 1.5 hours each.
Total combined time for the 16 men would be 24 hours.
Total time spent would be 36 plus the 24 = 60 hours.
On average these men earn around £20 an hour, so from a monetary point of view, this has cost £1,200. Yes, I know you may say well they are not working at their job so how can we say it’s got a monetary element just keep reading and you will see why.
Don’t forget we also need to account for the 240 mile trip made by 2 cars that’s 480 miles.
At a standard rate of 45p a mile as used on your income tax form that’s an additional cost of £216
Total cost of all the time and expense incurred works out at £1,416.
Let’s imagine that instead of spending that time money on trying to destroy the lives of good people these men had spent the time going to their secular work to earn the money then adding the cost of the transport to it gave it to a more charitable cause. Like most real Christians would. Perhaps one or more of the following ideas easily found with a quick google search.
- Nearly half the world’s population, 2.8 billion people, survive on less than $2 a day. About 20 percent of the world’s population, 1.2 billion people, live on less than $1 a day
- “A dollar a day can buy a polio vaccine.”
- “For the cost of a latte, you can cure a child’s blindness.”
- For every dollar invested in water and sanitation, there is a $4.3 return in the form of reduced health care costs for individuals and society around the world, where 2.5 billion people still lack access to basic sanitation services, with 1 billion practicing open defection, the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO) said today.
- Sightsavers website says this about blindness.
- £10 can protect 50 families from river blindness.
- £30 could pay for a lifesaving cataract operation.
- £60 can protect an entire community from trachoma.
So what do you think should Jehovah’s Witness Elders spend £1,416 to destroy the lives of 2 good people or do the following.
Help feed 2,000 people for a day
Cure 2,000 people of polio
Give sight back to over 1,000 children
Stop 7,000 people getting river blindness.
We will let you good reader decide the answer for yourself. Perhaps next time a Jehovah’s witness knocks at your door you may like to ask them what they would do.
