The David and Goliath Story

Why did Watchtower lose its domain name dispute they had with us?

We put that question and a few others to our expert in these matters, Webby, to see if he could explain it to us. So please join us as we interview him for the second time.

Bro. Truthful: So Webby, we know you are the expert that put together such a great rebuttal to Watchtowers claim that we did not have a right to the name “thejw.org”. How did you do it?

Webby: Well first of all I must confess, I am no expert, I have had no legal training in these matters, I just simply told the TRUTH.

Bro. Truthful: Surley Webby that can’t be the case, please tell us more, you must have taken some legal counsel on this to have destroyed Watchtowers argument so clearly?

Webby: I spent a few hours reading through their argument, did some research on what all their big words meant, had a look at their stated legal case history and came to the conclusion its like most things they say just a load of B.S.

Bro. Truthful: Yes Webby, but they have big lawyers working on the case costing thousands of dollars, with many years of training in these matters, lots of resources at their disposal and many wins under their belt. It can’t be as simple as you say.

Webby: Well I have spent many years in conversation with experts, and I have come to the conclusion, that when you strip out all the big words, and deliberately confusing language, very often you find there really isn’t an argument to be had. On this occasion, I think Watchtower lawyers did a good job. It is not their fault they lost, basically, Watchtower handed them a case that was just weak, full of holes, and just plain wrong, all it took was to see that and then politely state it to WIPO the organisation that dealt with it.

Bro. Truthful: So lets see if I have understood you correctly. You think Watchtower lawyers did a good job?

Webby: Yes they did, Watchtower handed them, to use Watchtowers confusing language as a metaphor, a “porcine audio receptor”, but for you and I, a “pigs ear” of a case, and they managed to turn it into something half good. It’s not their fault Watchtower are wrong, and were even arguing against their own theology regarding the word “the”.

Bro. Truthful: It also sounds like you think WIPO did a good Job?

Webby: Yes I do, at last an organisation with truth and integrity behind it. They looked at the evidence and based on that alone, could see who had the more reasonable argument. They did not allow themselves to be corrupted by the despotic, brainwashing power Watchtower wield. They looked at the evidence and did their Job based on that. So an organisation that does what it is supposed to, ruling against an organisation that doesn’t.

Bro. Truthful: That is interesting, could you just explain that a little more, you know the bit about organisations not doing their job, fulfilling their surposed purpose?

Webby:Yes no problem that’s an easy question to answer. Lets use Watchtower as an example to explain.
They say they are Christian, simply put, to be Christian means to follow the Christ. Watchtower members follow the “Governing Body” So not Christian by any standard definition. See how they handle Paedophilia. or Shunning

They say they have Unity and yet there rules are designed to destroy family unity and victimise any who disagree with the “Governing Body” See Babies are enemies of God according to the Governing Body or Elders Card.

They say they have Love, and yet their shunning policy is one of the most severe of any organisation you can think of, the antithesis of Love. See Shunning

They say they have the Truth, in fact its members refer to themselves as “being in the Truth” and yet here is a list of just some of the many errors they have. See False Prophecy, or Topics

So to summarise this small basic list we might remember 4 words in this order.

  • Not-Christian
  • No- Unity
  • No- Love
  • Little- Truth

Bro. Truthful: So to help us remember those points Webby, we might turn them into an acronym like C-U-L-T and just remember the new word I just invented “Cult”.

Webby: Great idea Bro. Truthful, but you didn’t invent the word CULT. I just looked it up in my excellent Webby Webster Watchtower Dictionary and you will never guess what the definition is.

Bro. Truthful: Please tell me Webby, what does it say, and how do we get a copy of that great dictionarty?

Webby: Definition for CULT from Webby Websters Watchtower Dictionary is “Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania is the definition of CULT. If you would like a copy of this dictionary it is coming soon aka (WWWD the 2023 edition)

Bro. Truthful: Ok, that makes things much clearer for us. Thanks for finding the time to chat with us again. I think we should have another discussion soon and then perhaps you can give us a more in depth look at the whole legal case Watchtower lost against us.

Webby: Yes no problem if our readers would like that then I can do.

Bro. Truthful: So then dear reader you heard it from Webby himself, if you would like to hear the full story then drop a quick email to truth@thejw.org and we will make it happen.

If you have a story you would like to tell, then we can include it on our testimony page along with Brother and Sister Mature. Email it to truth@thejw.org
